Over the past few years, ransomware attacks have become one of the most prominent cyberattacks. As a result, the U.S Treasury Department has recently issued a new advisory that emphasizes the restrictions on transactions in response to such an attack. Although the advisory doesn’t include any new restrictions or guidelines, experts believe “it signals an increasing willingness to enforce sanctions on such payments”, so that they won’t end up in the hands of sanctioned individuals and entities.
