Partner Liran Barak’s Contribution to The Legal 500: Gambling Law Comparative Guide 2022
1 December 2022
We were invited to take part in writing the Legal 500 Country Comparative Guides Israel: Gambling Law 2022. The aim of this guide is to provide its readers with a pragmatic overview of the law and practice of gambling across a variety of jurisdictions. Each chapter of this guide provides information about the current issues affecting gambling law in a particular country and addresses topics such as legal definitions, regulatory bodies, licenses, advertising, and tax rates as well as personal insight and opinion as to the future of the gaming market over the next five years.
Partner Liran Barak, Head of the Gaming Regulatory Practice, wrote the chapter about Israel: “Israeli courts have established that in order to determine whether a game is to be perceived as ‘based on chance more than understanding or ability’, the predominance test will be applied, assessing whether the predominant element in determining the outcome of the game is skill, or rather chance.”
