Dr. Ruth Dagan on Biodiversity as a Financial Risk and Opportunity – Webinar Highlights
29 January 2026
Dr. Ruth Dagan spoke at a webinar organized by ECOncrete, titled “Scaling Marine Nature Markets: Practical Insights from Finance & Regulatory Experts“. Dr. Ruth Dagan focused on the growing recognition of nature and biodiversity loss as a material financial risk and, increasingly, a source of financial opportunity. She highlighted key international frameworks shaping the financial response, including the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework and its call to mobilize private capital, as well as emerging integrity frameworks for biodiversity credit markets. Dr. Dagan also outlined the rapidly evolving disclosure landscape. She discussed innovative financial instruments such as blue bonds, biodiversity bond funds, and sustainability-linked loans, and illustrated how leading investors and banks are embedding natural capital considerations into governance, risk management, and engagement strategies.
Overall, her message was that biodiversity is shifting from a peripheral ESG issue to a core strategic and financial consideration, requiring companies and financial actors to integrate nature into decision-making, risk assessment, and capital allocation.
