The inaugural “Global Impact Awards” – a joint initiative of the Society for International Development (SID) Israel, Herzog Fox & Neeman, Israeli media outlet Walla! News, and additional partners – will honor Israeli ventures, nonprofits, and individuals positively impacting lives in the developing world.
OLAM has joined forces with this new and exciting initiative to present two of the awards to non-Israeli citizens who have contributed meaningfully towards global volunteering, international development, and/or humanitarian aid while simultaneously strengthening the connection between Israel and the global Jewish community.
The “Global Impact Awards” were selected via a public committee, which included prominent personalities from the Israeli media, business, academic, and nonprofit sectors alongside representation from the global Jewish community.
An unprecedented number of around 100 nominations has been submitted- proposals for nominations of Israeli or World Jewry entrepreneurs, individuals, companies, business ventures, start-ups, impact investors, researchers, civil society organizations and volunteers that work in fields such as medicine, nutrition, capacity building, community development, economic entrepreneurship etc.,
In the first part of the evening the award recipients- Israeli technologies and innovations, civil society organisation, large scale firms and individuals from Israel and the World Jewry, will be given the opportunity to tell their stories onstage in a TED-like presentation, short movies or pictures. The second part of the evening will honor them for dedicating themselves to improving the lives of people in fields such as, health, water, medicine, education etc., and bringing about significant impact in the developing world.
The aim of this event is to recognise those engaged in this work, and to encourage others to do the same. Invitees to the event will include government figures, academics, business people, representatives of Israeli civil society organisations, and of course our honorees and their families.
The awards will be presented at a gala event, which will be attended by H.E. the President of Israel, Mr. Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin, and broadcast live on Walla! News on January 16, 2019.
